Why roofing problems can't wait.
Your roof is the first thing that greets every storm, and it protects everything underneath it. A small issue — a lifted shingle, a worn pipe boot, a gap in the flashing — can let water reach the decking, insulation, and interior finishes. Catching it early is what keeps a repair small. Letting it sit is what turns a few shingles into a full replacement.
Common warning signs
- Shingles curling, cracking, or missing tabs after a wind event.
- Ceiling stains tracking down from a valley, skylight, or chimney — often a flashing issue, not a shingle failure.
- A gutter full of granules, which is a sign the shingles are aging out.
- Soft or spongy decking underfoot, meaning rot is working from the top down.
- Ice building up along the eaves every winter, pointing to insulation or ice-and-water shield gaps.
How we build it — and what makes it ours.
A well-built roof comes down to five layers working together. The plywood decking is the foundation — any soft or stained panels get replaced before anything new goes down. Ice-and-water shield is run along the eaves, valleys, and around every penetration; it is the backup that stops water from backing up under wind or ice. A quality synthetic underlayment covers the rest of the deck. Step and counter-flashing tie the roof into walls, chimneys, and skylights with real metal instead of relying on caulk. Architectural shingles are nailed to the manufacturer's pattern, drip edge protects the perimeter, and a continuous ridge vent lets the attic breathe so the deck below stays dry. The Prestige touch: we hand-seal every pipe boot, color-match the ridge caps, and run a magnet sweep before the job is wrapped.
This is how we actually do roofing.
Real photos from real Prestige jobsites — step by step.

1. Tear-off and deck inspection
We strip down to the plywood and walk every panel. Soft, delaminated, or stained decking gets cut out and replaced before a new layer is laid. A beautiful roof over a weak deck is only a temporary fix.

2. Ice-and-water shield, then underlayment
Self-adhered membrane goes along every eave, valley, and penetration, backed by full synthetic underlayment across the field. Before the first shingle is set, the roof is already watertight.

3. Flashing every penetration
Skylights, chimneys, sidewalls, vents, and pipe boots receive fresh metal woven into the shingle courses the way the manufacturer intends. This is the detail that keeps valleys and walls dry for the long haul.

4. Shingles and ridge vent
Architectural shingles are laid straight and nailed to spec, with a continuous ridge vent cut in to pull heat and moisture out of the attic. The ridge caps are color-matched to the field for a clean, finished look.

5. Final walk-through and cleanup
We walk the roof and the property with the homeowner, run a magnet sweep across the lawn and driveway, and leave photos for the project file. Same crew from start to finish.
