Chimneys sit above the roofline and take the worst of every season — sun, wind, freeze, and thaw. When the crown cracks or the flashing loosens, rain can travel down inside the stack and reach the framing and ceilings below. A chimney problem is rarely just cosmetic; it is a water path and, in some cases, a safety concern.

How we build it — and what makes it ours.
A chimney is a stack of brick on a footing, tied into the roof with step and counter-flashing, capped on top with a poured crown that sheds water, and finished with a stainless cap that keeps the flue clear. When one piece fails, the whole system starts taking water. We rebuild from the lowest sound course up, matching the mortar to the original brick so the new work blends in instead of standing out. The crown is poured with a proper overhang and drip edge so water leaves the chimney rather than running down the brick. The Prestige touch: hand-struck joints and color-matched mortar so a repair reads like it has always been there.

1. Scaffold and photo survey
We set up proper scaffolding and photograph every face of the stack, the crown, and the flashing line. The homeowner sees what we see before any work begins.
2. Tear down to sound brick
Spalled, cracked, or hollow courses are removed until we reach masonry that can carry the rebuild. A rebuild is only as good as the base it sits on.
3. Rebuild, flash, and crown
The stack goes back plumb and true with color-matched mortar. Fresh step and counter-flashing is woven into the shingle courses with real metal. The poured crown is shaped with an overhang and drip edge so rain sheds off the chimney.
4. Cap, joints, and seal
A stainless cap is pinned on top, every joint is tuckpointed and struck by hand, and the brick is sealed against freeze-thaw. The finish is what makes a Prestige chimney look like part of the original home.
5. Final inspection
We look at the chimney from the roof and from the curb. Plumb, watertight, joints clean — every brick the right brick.
